Archiving Policy

At SSJ Journals, we recognize the importance of long-term accessibility and digital preservation of scholarly content. Our Archiving Policy is designed to ensure the perpetual availability of all published articles, safeguarding the integrity of academic records and supporting the mission of global open access dissemination.

Digital Preservation Commitment

SSJ Journals is committed to preserving the scholarly record by employing trusted third-party archiving services. All articles published under our journals are archived using multiple digital preservation systems to guarantee long-term accessibility even in the event of website failure, publisher restructuring, or other unforeseen circumstances.

We utilize the following archiving and preservation mechanisms:

  • LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): Ensures a decentralized and secure archiving system by allowing multiple libraries to hold permanent copies of the content.

  • CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS): Acts as a dark archive to preserve content and provide open access if the content becomes unavailable.

  • Portico and Internet Archive: Articles are regularly deposited to these digital repositories to ensure redundancy and reliability.

Institutional Repository Inclusion

Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit the final published version (PDF) of their manuscripts in institutional or subject-based repositories immediately upon publication. This practice supports academic transparency, citation enhancement, and compliance with funder mandates.

Self-Archiving Policy

SSJ Journals allows authors to:

  • Archive pre-print versions before peer review.

  • Archive post-print versions after peer review and editorial revisions.

  • Archive the final published version (publisher's PDF) on personal websites, academic social networks, or repositories, without embargo.

All archived versions must include proper citation to the original publication in SSJ Journals, including DOI and journal information.

Metadata Preservation

To further ensure discoverability, all metadata including titles, authorship, abstracts, keywords, and references are preserved in multiple formats. This metadata is indexed in reputed databases and stored separately to enhance content retrieval in the future.

Continuous Access Assurance

Even in the event that a journal ceases publication, SSJ Journals ensures that previously published content remains freely accessible. All past issues and articles will remain available through our archiving partners and repository platforms, protecting the scholarly value of every contribution.

Compliance with International Standards

Our archiving practices are in alignment with guidelines recommended by:

  • Open Archives Initiative (OAI-PMH)

  • Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)

  • Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)

  • SHERPA/RoMEO policies

SSJ Journals remains steadfast in upholding academic continuity and accessibility. We believe that by prioritizing robust archiving systems, we contribute to the enduring impact of global scholarly communication.
